WGU is the starting point in this selected comparison for adults who want a competency-based university with a defined assessment and mentoring model. Its business-management degree is online, and the featured rate produces $4,050 in tuition and the listed resource fee for one six-month term. That is a term price, not the cost to finish a bachelor’s.
Send all prior transcripts and exam records before beginning. A transfer review can remove requirements; it cannot guarantee that every old course fits this major. Ask which competencies remain, which assessments involve projects or proctored exams, and how your mentor sets the first term.
This route suits a learner who can organize regular study without weekly class meetings. Plan a conservative number of completed terms, including one additional term if work or family demands slow progress. Business pricing should not be applied to every WGU field.

02University of Maine at Presque Isle

YourPace is a useful comparison when you want shorter billing commitments and a clear institutional-credit floor. The current undergraduate session price is $1,800. Courses use learning modules and final assessments, and progress depends on demonstrating the required knowledge.
A bachelor’s requires at least 30 credits through UMPI, including 12 in the major and at least nine upper-level major credits. UMPI distinguishes the number of credits it can evaluate from the credits that actually satisfy your degree. Its minimum age has an exception for applicants who already hold an accredited associate or bachelor’s degree.
For a hypothetical three-session plan, base tuition is $5,400; six sessions cost $10,800. Neither calculation predicts your completion time. Use the official degree audit and a realistic weekly workload to decide how many sessions belong in your budget.

03University of Wisconsin–Parkside
BS in Business Administration Through UW Flexible Option; a transfer-entry bachelor’s
$2,250 per subscription period for the all-you-can-learn option.
At least 10 transferable college credits and a transfer GPA of 2.00.
UW–Parkside provides a public-university business degree with project-based competencies and three concentrations: General Business, Business Analytics, and Agile Project Management. The entry threshold makes it an option to investigate before you have completed an associate degree.
The business route uses the $2,250 subscription option and does not offer the cheaper single-course option available in some other UW Flexible Option programs. It lists no student segregated fees, while textbooks and other learning resources can cost extra. Admitted business students remain intended majors until they have 45 total credits.
Choose the concentration before evaluating transfer fit. Prior accounting or analytics coursework may shorten one path differently from another. Ask the success coach which projects should fit the first subscription and what happens to unfinished work at the next billing boundary.

04University of Massachusetts Global
MyPath BBA or BS in Information Technology; transfer-entry bachelor’s options
24-week billing periods; featured MyPath undergraduate tuition $3,500.
Use the MyPath academic and fee schedule, which differs from standard per-credit study.
UMass Global MyPath offers another longer billing period for adults comfortable with independent progress. The university identifies its self-paced BBA and BS in Information Technology as competency-based options. The IT curriculum is organized around technology foundations, management, operations, and software development.
MyPath uses a flat tuition model, so faster demonstrated mastery can change the number of billed periods. It does not mean prior employment automatically replaces a course. The academic policy describes a student-success requirement for admitted students who lack the specified prior-credit or GPA preparation.
Compare the 24-week tuition and applicable technology fee with your remaining competencies. The published catalog lists a $210 MyPath technology fee per billing period. Request the current itemized bill and refund terms before starting; a subscription can continue to cost money while your progress slows.

05Capella University
BS in Business, Business Administration, FlexPath; a transfer-entry bachelor’s
12-week billing sessions; $2,575 tuition plus a $125 resource kit.
FlexPath requires 45 transferable college credits; additional GPA or applied-credit criteria apply.
Capella’s FlexPath business degree lets students work on one or two courses at a time and move to another after completion. Its separate billing-session price is more useful for planning than a headline about the fastest graduates. At the published rate, tuition and the resource kit total $2,700 per 12-week session.
FlexPath has its own admission criteria. The program lists a recommended 2.8 GPA or at least 100 applied transfer credits, alongside 45 transferable college credits, and describes alternative preparation routes for some applicants. Do not confuse the general university entry minimum with approval for FlexPath.
Capella reports program points as well as quarter credits. Use the official evaluated degree plan when comparing the work left; points cannot simply be treated as semester credits. Ask how assessments, resubmissions, and the capstone fit the pace you can maintain.

06Purdue University Global
ExcelTrack BS in Business Administration; a transfer-entry bachelor’s
$2,500 tuition per term for the featured ExcelTrack degree.
180 quarter credits; 174 single-credit components and a six-credit capstone.
Purdue Global ExcelTrack makes the competency structure especially visible: the business degree consists of focused single-credit components followed by a larger capstone. Students demonstrate each required skill rather than moving at the same pace as a conventional class.
The displayed $2,500 is term tuition. It does not establish a full-degree price, and required fees belong in the written estimate. Purdue Global’s undergraduate page requires a high school credential or equivalent and orientation; ask the advisor to confirm ExcelTrack suitability and transfer treatment for the chosen start.
A quarter-credit degree and the single-credit competency structure can make a long requirement list look misleading. Identify the remaining academic work after transfer, then ask how the capstone is scheduled and billed. Plan its time separately from familiar introductory topics that you may complete faster.

A Subscription Saves Money Only When It Reduces Billed Periods
Build three estimates using the evaluated remaining requirements: a pace you can maintain, one slower period, and a plan with an interruption. Multiply the applicable tuition and recurring fees by the number of billing periods. Add materials, assessments, and one-time charges separately.
For example, two Capella business FlexPath sessions at $2,575 tuition plus a $125 resource kit total $5,400; three cost $8,100. This is arithmetic using the published session charges, not an estimate that you can finish in either period. A two-session YourPace plan is $3,600 in base tuition, but its sessions are shorter and your remaining requirements may differ.
Do not divide every subscription by an assumed number of credits to manufacture a comparable per-credit price. The real comparison is your complete remaining degree plan.
Separate Transfer Credit From Demonstrating Competency
Transfer evaluation recognizes eligible learning completed before the degree. Competency assessment measures the work you demonstrate within the current program. A work history can make a subject familiar without automatically generating transfer credit.
Request a written list of accepted credits, applied requirements, remaining assessments, and institutional-credit requirements. UMPI’s 30-credit institutional minimum and Capella’s FlexPath admission rules illustrate why a single “up to” transfer percentage cannot explain every route.
Ask to see an assessment rubric or sample course before enrolling. Consider proctoring, writing demands, feedback turnaround, and access to faculty. A flexible calendar is useful only if you can keep producing the required work.
